An Awkward Introduction

I’ve always tossed the idea of a burger blog around in my head for a long time. The concept of going to a restaurant or diner, photographing what I’m eating (usually a burger) and later describing this same burger while talking about the eatery establishment always seemed like a fun idea to me. Hmm. After I reread that run-on sentence, the idea does sound kind of boring. I mean, why would anyone care about what I had to say about food? I’m no food critic by any means, but I do love to eat food. You can all agree you like to do the same, yes? Okay, glad we’re on the same page with that. So my main goal for this blog is to have friends or even strangers read and learn about new places to munch on some great grub. Um, yes. Confident starting paragraph right there.

Originally I was going to limit the site strictly to burgers. Then once I took the plunge and bought the meatinmymouth.com domain name on a whim (technically it was after a beer-fueled night out with some friends, but who’s keeping track of that), I decided to extend the site’s focal point to all kinds of meat. Just to give fair warning, I may deviate now and again to even discuss some things that don’t have meat in them. Okay, calm down. I know you’re upset about this. Can you just…stop crying please? People are starting to look at us. How do you even let out a high-pitched tone like that while crying? It’s terrifying.  The sort of terrifying you get when you misplace your car keys. I see some puzzled dogs wandering over here…

People have asked me about the blog name. The first question I hear once I tell them about the blog is “That website domain name wasn’t already taken?” I was honestly so surprised it was available after my friends and I came back from the bar that I simply had to have the URL. I needed it in my hands, to always pet or hold whenever it was in my desired reach. I originally thought the name because it seemed an absurd title for a food blog. Yet thinking more and more about it, the title does seem to make sense.  I know that the following will occur on this blog:

1) I will be discussing meat.

2) More lists in upcoming posts because I love them.

3) This same meat mentioned in #1 will be going into my mouth. Not around it, mind you, but inside of it.

Due to the title of the blog, I do expect some questionable comments to arise, so just consider this a warning in advance for the 7th time you read about how to “Give her more with your love rod” and “Achieve legendary status” in the comments section. Note: Those are actual email subject titles I have received the past 24 hours.

I would like to take the time here to thank a buddy of mine, Eli Horne. I designed the entire shiny website you see here in front of you, but he did me a favor and coded the entire dang thing to look presentable for all web browsers. He has a zen-like skill when it comes to the blog platform Wordpress. What took him a few hours would have taken me a fortnight. He’s a fantastic coder and you should check out his website when you get a chance.

So with awkward salutations out of the way, greetings ladies and gentleman. Welcome to meatinmymouth.com, an unfortunately titled food blog.
